Kyodo News. Jan. 21, 2017 (emphasis added): Crane falls on building storing spent nuclear fuel at Takahama plant — A crane collapsed Friday night at the Takahama power station… damaging a building housing spent nuclear fuel, the plant operator said Saturday… An official apologized for the accident at a news conference at the plant, saying the utility would re-examine the risk of crane accidents amid strong winds and investigate the cause of the latest incident…

Asahi Shimbun, Jan 21, 2017: The mangled wreckage of the construction crane at the Takahama nuclear power plant… The 113-meter tall [nearly 400 foot] crane used for construction work collapsed around 9:50 p.m. … The plant’s operations have been suspended. The mangled wreckage lies on [a] building used to store spent nuclear fuel… Winds gusting at 50.4 to 54 kph [31 to 34 mph] were raging at the time, and a warning had been issued…

Jiji Press, Jan 21, 2017: Large Crane Falls Down at Takahama Nuclear Plant… A 113-meter crane toppled over two buildings… Friday night, the operator… [T]he 270-ton boom crane partially damaged steel frames of an auxiliary building and an adjoining spent fuel storage facility for the No. 2 reactor… The central control room for the reactor is located in the auxiliary building…

Getty Images, Jan 21, 2017: Crane falls on Takahama plant building housing spent nuclear fuel… where a crane collapsed a day earlier, damaging a building housing spent nuclear fuel.

Manichi Daily News, Jan 21, 2017: After the incident, the framework of the collapsed crane was seen bent along the buildings on which it fell, and the metal rails on the edges of the roofs of the two affected buildings were damaged… [A] worker at the plant’s central control room heard a loud sound and checked to find one of the four cranes collapsed…

NHK, Jan 20, 2017: A large crane has toppled onto a building storing nuclear fuel… Part of the building’s roof was damaged… Workers at the plant found… the crane had half-collapsed onto the building next to the containment vessel… They confirmed damage to a facility collecting rainwater on the roof, but say they have detected no change to radiation levels in the surrounding area… Nuclear Regulation Authority says its inspectors have confirmed the falling crane caused wall panels inside the building to move. Workers are checking the building’s functions to prevent radioactive materials from leaking… The Takahama plant’s operational chief… apologized for the accident…

From 2015: The Pacific Ocean is Dying

Peter Daley August 2015,
http://sccc.org.au/the-pacific-ocean-is-dying

A huge amount of radioactive contamination, conservatively equal to 10,000 Hiroshima nuclear bombs, has been released from the Fukushima Nuclear Catastrophe site. The Fukushima nuclear catastrophe site is still releasing huge amounts atmospheric radioactive contamination, plus thousands of tons of highly radioactive contaminated water is still flowing into the Pacific Ocean every day!

There are an increasing number of media reports coming in, of Pacific Ocean fish, whales, birds and other sea creatures dying in large numbers. The Fukushima radioactive contamination would be lowering the fertility and weakening the immune systems of any sea life coming in contact with it. As immune systems become weakened, it would be logical to expect viruses and bacteria that would normally be under check, to become more infectious. This radioactive contamination could also potentially stimulate viruses and bacteria to mutate into more infectious strains.

This massive amount of radioactive environment pollution has resulted in the Pacific Ocean food supply crashing! Like the human embryo, embryonic sea life including fish eggs, are hypersensitive to radioactive contamination, hence the large number of reports of seals, whales and birds etc., washing up on the west coast of North America, starving to death.

Thanks to Dr. Sternglass, for this research paper below. It clearly demonstrates how nuclear contamination from the nuclear bomb testing era caused a significant crash in Pacific Ocean fish stocks. If this was the case then, it would be logical to assume that the Fukushima Nuclear Catastrophe is having a similar effect.
Quote:
“The purpose of the study was to determine whether continued atmospheric testing by France and China or potential releases from underground detonations that might unexpectedly escape into the nearby fishing grounds could have detectable effects on the reproduction of fish populations similar to the unanticipatedly severe effects of low level radiation on the human embryo and fetus (2, 3, 4) recently confirmed by independent studies by other investigators (5, 6).”

Nuclear Fallout causes Fish Population Decline,

As will be shown below, very large declines of fish-populations after low-altitude nuclear tests followed by a gradual recovery to pretesting levels have been observed both in the Atlantic and Pacific, strongly suggesting that the eggs of fish and the developing young are far more sensitive to internal radiation from low-level fallout than had been anticipated, very much as in the case of the human-embryo and fetus.

Clustered DNA damage is considered a signature of ionizing radiation: “clustered DNA damage sites, which may be considered as a signature of ionising radiation, underlie the deleterious biological consequences of ionising radiation…ionising radiation creates significant levels of clustered DNA damage, including complex double-strand breaks (DSB)” See: “Biological Consequences of Radiation-induced DNA Damage: Relevance to Radiotherapy“, by M.E. The Orange County Register – Diablo Canyon

Diablo Canyon nuclear plant cited for cooling system problem

This Monday Nov. 3, 2008, photo shows one of Pacific Gas and Electric’s Diablo Canyon Power Plant’s nuclear reactors in Avila Beach. The plant has received a citation after a problem with a cooling system created a “low-to-moderate” safety risk. (AP Photo/Michael A. Mariant, File),

SAN LUIS OBISPO – Federal regulators have cited the Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant for a problem that may have knocked out a reactor cooling system for a year-and-a-half.

The Tribune of San Luis Obispo says the Nuclear Regulatory Commission issued a “white finding” on Thursday. That color-coding means the problem created a low-to-moderate safety risk at the Central California plant.

During a test in May, workers found that an emergency cooling system for one of the two reactors wasn’t working – and may not have been operating since it was last checked in October 2014.

The problem was traced to an improperly installed switch.

A spokesman says the plant operator, Pacific Gas & Electric, has corrected the problem and it plans to appeal the NRC finding.
